Isurus win WCA South America Finals

Isurus Gaming will attend the World Cyber Arena (WCA) 2017 Finals after beating INTZ 2-1 in the grand final of the South American qualifier.

Eight South American teams, four invited and four qualified, competed in a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket for the lion's share of a $19,000 prize pool and the chance to represent the region at the WCA Finals, later this year, in China.

The first round featured two nail-biting matches, as Isurus required three maps to defeat a Merciless team who had just lost Ricardo "s1" Shinji, while INTZ came from behind to beat fellow Brazilian side ProGaming 2-1.

In the semi-finals, Isurus pulled off a stunning upset as they defeated TeamOne, who had recently attended the ESEA Global Challenge, on three maps, with Nicolas "NikoM" Miozzi and Nicolás "Noktse" Dávila both racking up over 70 frags. In the other semi-final, INTZ defeated Hafnet after just two maps, with the first one going to double overtime.

Isurus entered the grand final with fire in their belly, taking the lead in the series with a quick 16-4 win on Inferno. The second map, Overpass, was just as lopsided, as INTZ ran out 16-6 winners. It all came down to Nuke, where, after a keenly-contested first-half that ended with an 8-7 scoreline, the Argentinian team took control of proceedings and locked down the map with a flawless second half.
